Share Your Mass Street Music Story

Jim Baggett and Richard Dishinger at Michigan St Music, which became Mass Street Music

Before Mass Street Music took over the corner of 14th & Mass St in Lawrence, Kansas, it was Michigan Street Music. Here Jim (left) poses with Richard Dishinger (right) in front of the first shop circa 1978.

Hard to believe, but in 2013 Mass Street Music will be celebrating our 30th anniversary at the corner of 14th & Mass St in Lawrence!  Jim Baggett moved his ‘Michigan Street Music’ to Mass St. in 1983, and changed the name accordingly. We have some exciting plans in the works – and we’ll be sharing some of our great memories. We’d like you to share your Mass Street Music stories with us too!

Are you still playing that guitar or bass you bought from us in the 80s? Perhaps you bought your child’s first guitar here or that amp for your first band? Grandkids playing now? Met another musician here? Had a lightbulb moment at a workshop? Gotten your friend or spouse to pick up an instrument too? Remember Flynn’s skullet? We want to know your Mass St Music story! We might just ask you on your next store visit to take a moment and share it with us.

If you have something to share, please email Anne (annet@massstreetmusic.com) and let her know, or just send your story or photos along to her – we’ll be compiling these and sharing them throughout our anniversary year!
