Pcikup Test Drive graphic

Our third Pickup Test Drive is all about Seymour Duncan ’59 Humbucker pickups! Mass Street Music luthier Josh B.’s Eastman 185TMX hollowbody guitar is loaded with a Duncan ’59 Humbucker Neck pickup and a ’59 Humbucker Bridge pickup. The guitar is available for you to give the pickups a run through at our store now extended through Friday, Oct. 27. You can get a preview here in our Duncan ’59 video demo.

You can’t have the guitar (it’s Josh’s), but you can have the Duncan ’59 sound

Josh B. and Matt H. in our Repair Shop are serious pickup experts and came up with the great idea of the Pick Up Test Drive, giving everyone a chance to try out some different pickups in different guitar bodies.  These ’59 hums are our favorite Duncans – we love the classic, mid-rangy humbucker tone, but they also clean up well as you roll off volume. They get down and dirty when pushed too. In a solid-body guitar, these work well for any style of music, and in a hollow-body they’ll zero in on a more Creedence-esque sound. The Alnico V magnet provides the perfect amount of clarity in the neck and some good fullness to the bridge.

You can check out all our Duncan pickups here. Questions about pickups? We have answers, just give us a call at 800-747-9980.

NEXT TEST DRIVE: For acoustic fans! An Eastman E6 OM acoustic loaded with 3, count ’em 3 acoustic pickups for you to try out. This will have a K & K Pure Mini, a Fishman Infinity, and an LR Baggs M-1 — we’ll also be able to pop in an M-80 in less than a minute so you can try that one out too. Coming Friday, October 27!
