March Staff Picks -
Check out what the Mass Street Music staff is drooling over this month…

Dr Z Maz 18
Matt Christenot – Dr. Z Maz 18
Maz 18, Black with Black Grill, amazing. The Maz sports a set of EL84s which will please any fan of the VOX AC30, the good doctor’s design however takes it to the next level. It’s powerful, yet subtle, and feels at home in a multitude of gigging situations.

Don Grosh ElectraJet Standard!
John Flynn – Don Grosh ElectraJet Standard
Mine is the EJ Standard. I have the EJ Custom and it is simply incredible but the Standard is the deal of a lifetime. $1699 for a guitar that’s built like this and sounds like this is awesome. The Grosh p90 pickups are among the finest I have heard and if you want a guitar that plays like butter, this is it. Another plus is the unique looks. This guitar is worth every penny.

The latest - Pro Tools 8
Isaac Flynn – M-Audio’s Pro-tools 8
It has up to 48 tracks, 70 stock plug-ins, and it takes mixing and mastering to the next level. I’m still running M-Powered 7, but I’m a pay check away from running Pro-Tools 8.

Fender Road Worn Jazz Bass
Matthew Khomsi – Fender Road Worn Jazz Bass
It’s so easy to play and the tone controls are better than any passive Fender Jazz bass I have played to date! See more about this bass by checking out my review of it.
Eric Mardis – Fender Road Worn 60s Strat

Fender Road Worn 60s Strat in Olympic White
I don’t really care much for the whole “relic” craze – I’m hard enough on my gear to a point where it gets pretty worn on its own.  THIS guitar however, is a killer player… the trem feels good set up with a slight “float”.  Fret work is awesome and the tones are classic.  This Olympic White rocker looks like something Ritchie Blackmore might have impaled a few flaming Marshalls with. With prices lower and the vibe just as cool as more expensive ones out there… these Fender Road Worns may just change my mind about relics.

Bogner Cube!
Jason Jones -Bogner Cube 112 cab
A huge sound, in a small package, the Cube is David to a big, bad 412′s Goliath with arguably similar results. It’s closed-back, ported design pushes all the low end tone back out front, therefore completing the deception that this speaker cabinet is bigger than its size gives it credit for.

Ibanez AS73
Anne Tangeman – Ibanez AS73
Ibanez AS73 in white â Well made, low low priced, very cool semi-hollow body. This can be subtle and smooth or totally rock out. This has a great feel, a smaller body depth, so it’s comfortable to play. All around, it’s a versatile, well made guitar with a little somethin’-somethin’ that caught my eye.
